Arm exercises for women, the top 5

Many women avoid wearing short-sleeved or sleeveless tops because of their flabby arms. If you happen to fall under this group, fret no more because you’ve come to the right place.

Below are the top 5 arm exercises for women that you can do easy at home just 3 times a week. Combine these exercises with a good cardiovascular workout along with well balanced diet, those flabbiness soon will turn into lean, sexy and sundress-ready-well-defined arms!

Ok, if you are ready here we go..

Bicep curls

Tone up your biceps and shoulders with slow, controlled movements.

  1. You can perform this exercise by:
  2. Stand up with your feet apart hip-width
  3. Put your arms on the sides with weights with palms facing in
  4. Twist your wrist, slowly bend and raise both arms towards the shoulders
  5. Hold for one second and go back to the beginning and repeat

Reps: 10-15 repetitions in sets of 2-3 in order to finish a nice session of bicep curls.

Arm circles

Good for toning the forearms, shoulders and biceps by using slight, quick arm weight shifts. This is an easy exercise that you can do once everyday.

To perform this:

  1. Stand with your feet apart, hip-width
  2. Arms raised on the sides and palms facing down (your body forms a “t”)
  3. Make a small circular motion in clockwise for a minute
  4. Repeat the exercise again in anti-clockwise movement
  5. To increase intensity, enlarge the circular motion

Reps: Do about 3 or 5 times a week, to tone your shoulder area and arm.

Push ups

Work both the shoulder and arm muscles.

To do this exercise:

  1. Lie on your belly with both arms shoulder-width apart
  2. Knees on the floor and then push up with your arms to raise your body
  3. Keep your stomach muscles tight, your back straight and neck aligned with your back
  4. Lower yourself down slowly until your chest is touching the floor
  5. Move slowly back upwards
  6. Do not lock the elbows

When your shoulders and arms become stronger, you can then perform full push ups where you only use your toes and not your knees on the floor.

Arm raises

Tone your whole arm while also making them flexible.
Do this exercise by:

  1. Stand up straight with your feet apart, hip-width
  2. Arms on the sides and your palms facing outwards
  3. Slowly raise your arms till the palms meet the arms over your head.
  4. Hold for one second before you slowly go back to where you began at.

Reps: Repeat this exercise 15 to 20 times to finish a session.

Chair dips

One of the best arm exercises for women, is great for strengthening the back of the arm and can be done virtually anywhere.

To do it:

  1. Simply place your hands at the back on the edge of a chair, bench or table
  2. Keep your feet on the floor
  3. Lower yourself downwards till the elbows are at angle of 90 degrees.
  4. Stay in that position and then press up again to repeat the exercise.
  5. If you want to go further in this exercise, you simply raise your feet on another bench facing you

Reps: Do about 10 to 15 repetitions for each set and at least 3 sets for each type of exercise weekly.

So there you have it, some of the top arm exercises for women. There are many other ways that you can try at home but just by doing the above exercises just 3 times a week is a good start  .
